Getting started with Hornbill

New to Hornbill? Unsure of how things fit together in the platform?


Take this learning path to kick-start your Hornbill onboarding and to support your implementation. 


This learning path introduces key concepts and topics for common use cases of Hornbill. You'll learn about the Hornbill Platform, and how to create and manage users. You then move on to learn key concepts that underpin our Service Manager application; our fully featured Service Desk solution.


By the end of this learning path you'll be ready to start configuring Hornbill and begin to set up your users, services, portals, and more. You'll also be ready to start diving deeper into creating the processes and workflows that power Hornbill's automations.

Academy Live is Hornbill's live virtual instructor-led training (VILT) sessions. Sessions contain a mix of presentations, demos, and hands-on lab activities.


Sessions are recorded and uploaded to the Academy alongside handouts that include lab instructions for you to perform activities, and links to supporting resources.

IT Automation with Hornbill

This learning path explores core topics of automating processes in Hornbill with a view to growing towards building IT automations between Hornbill and external platforms.


IT Automation in Hornbill offers a wealth of possibilities. This Learning Path is designed to get you up and running learning the basics of automation in Hornbill, how to use Hornbill's Workflow Designer to automate business processes, and presents one of our solutions for integrating with external systems for using Hornbill to automate events across site and cloud based platforms.


The courses in this Learning Path are on-demand versions of Academy Live sessions. These sessions contain lab activities conducted in an environment set up just for learning Hornbill.


We have included all relevant assets for recreating these activities yourself, but in certain cases there are additional dependencies that may be challenging to configure. As an alternative to undertaking all of the activities, you can watch the activity walk-through videos that explain how the lab activities are successfully completed.
